The result
The final deliverables included: A5 leaflet (double-sided), foldable card with sunglasses insert, “refer a friend” mini leaflet, magazine and newspaper adverts, social media graphics, website banners, roll-up banner. The campaign gave the brand a more personable identity and was well received both internally and externally. The project also demonstrated how a small initiative could evolve into a cohesive and multi-platform campaign.
The solution
After exploring several directions, I proposed a simple storytelling approach using two cartoon characters: Playful Shadeand Angry Sun. This visual dynamic helped to soften the brand’s image and clearly communicate the product’s benefit. The idea was positively received, and I worked closely with Inside’s team to refine the characters and adapt the visual language across the entire campaign.
The client
Inside is a UK-based company specialising in the design, production and installation of high-quality conservatory sail blinds. Their solutions are tailored, modern, and engineered to improve comfort by reducing heat and glare. Visually, the brand has traditionally maintained a clean, minimalist and technical aesthetic, with a focus on function.
The challenge
My task was to propose a concept that would feel fresh and engaging, while still fitting their existing brand tone. It was also important to stay in close contact with their in-house team, adapt to multiple formats, and keep consistency across all materials.
The objective
The goal was to create friendly and approachable summer marketing materials to increase brand awareness and highlight the benefits of Inside’s sail blinds. The first task was to design a double-sided A5 leaflet, but as the concept proved successful, the campaign expanded to include a variety of other print and digital formats.

Logo concept
The logo combines bold typography with strong symbolic imagery. A chinstrap penguin, characteristic of the station’s surroundings, is integrated into the composition to act as both mascot and emblem. It stands alongside stylised mountains where the number 49 is embedded directly into the peaks, as if carved from the rock, symbolising permanence and the endurance of the expedition tradition. The typography is set in a bold serif with sharp, pointed edges to echo the jagged, rocky Antarctic landscape. Black and white contrasts highlight clarity and legibility, while also reflecting the stark, high-contrast environment of Antarctica itself. Together, these choices result in a logo that is both distinctive and deeply tied to place.
Illustration concept
The illustration takes the same chinstrap penguin from the logo and places it in a more playful, storytelling scene. Here, the penguin is lifted by a burst of water from a whale’s blowhole, bringing a light-hearted and unexpected energy to the composition. Behind it, the sun forms a halo, referencing classical painting traditions and symbolising the penguin’s significance as the emblem of the expedition. The engraving-inspired linework gives the image a sense of craft and durability, while keeping it contemporary and adaptable. Though presented in black and white, the design was created with the possibility of adding bold colour blocks, which would enhance its impact when used across posters, covers, or merchandise.
Logo concept
The logo for the COMNAP 2025 meeting merges international Antarctic symbolism with a distinctly local reference to Warsaw, the host city. The outline of Antarctica is combined with the silhouette of the Warsaw mermaid, creating a visual fusion of global science and national pride. The compact, horizontal composition ensures versatility across applications, while the clean, bold typography was chosen for clarity in both print and digital contexts. A deep maroon tone strengthens the identity by adding weight and seriousness appropriate for a scientific gathering, while also drawing on traditional Polish colours.
Invitation concept
The invitation design leads with a striking photograph of the Arctowski Station, grounding the event in tangible achievement and giving a strong sense of place. The yellow station buildings set against snow and dramatic lighting create a natural focal point, while the supporting palette of blue and white reinforces the Antarctic theme. The layout is structured around clear chronology, making the programme easy to follow while maintaining a professional yet accessible tone. This balance of visual impact and legibility reflects both the formality of the occasion and the inclusive nature of the event.
Logo concept
The 50th Expedition logo is intentionally minimalist, evoking both nostalgia and clarity. At its centre stands an Adélie penguin, one of the most common species around Arctowski Station, looking toward a rising sun that symbolises the future of Antarctic research. The circular backdrop suggests the form of a glass window, giving the logo both a sense of openness and a commemorative feel, as if capturing a moment in time. The use of bold sans serif typography reinforces clarity and modernity, while the overall composition carries a slightly retro, emblem-like quality that nods to the history of previous expeditions. This anniversary expedition is unique, as much of its work will focus on preparing the construction of a new station building, a forward-looking project that the penguin’s gaze into the sun symbolically represents.
Illustration concept
The companion illustration expands the narrative: an explorer walks alongside the Adélie penguin, with the Polish station nestled among looming mountain peaks in the background. The composition captures both the isolation and scale of Antarctica, while the explorer’s posture and the penguin’s presence reflect collaboration between humanity and wildlife. Though rendered in clean linework and intended for black-and-white reproduction, the design was created with the option to introduce bold blocks of colour for visual emphasis in future applications. This ensures the illustration remains adaptable, while reinforcing the expedition’s themes of legacy, hope, and scientific endeavour. Inspired by vintage travel posters, the design balances modern aesthetics with a sense of adventure, evoking the spirit of exploration.
